Outlook Settings

If you want to adjust outlook express to settle it to minimize on taskbar, you can do it with the help of registry settings.
Start registry editor  and go to the following key
Hkey_Current_User \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 10.0 \ O Utlook \ Preferences
Modify / Create Data Type Dword Named (Mintotray)
There are two options to settle Value data (0=disabled  and  1=enabled) when you finished the process exit from registry and reboot your system

Download Speed & Default director

Start registry editor (go to run and type Regedit)
Find the following key
Hkey_Current_User \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer Modify / Create String
In data type (Reg_Sz) name the directory where you want to save the downloaded files
In value data type the complete path of directory you want to use as a default folder for downloaded files) exit from registry and reboot your computer.

Downloading Speed
To increase the downloading speed from internet through registry settings, first of all go to Start and from Run start registry editor
Run – Regedit press enter and go to the following registry key
Hkey_Current_User \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Curre Ntversion \ Internet Settings Modify / Create dword value data type reg _ dword named (maxconnectionsper1_0server) value data (0000000a)
Modify / create dword Value data type Reg _ Dword name (Max Connections Per Server) value data (0000000a) exit from registry and restart your computer.

Media Player Customization

If you want to change the title bar of Media player go to the following registry key.
Start registry editor and go to the following Key
Hkey_Current_User \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft ( and create a new key)
With the name of (windowsmediaplayer) then create string value
with the name of (titlebar)
in data type (reg_sz // value name: titlebar) double click on title bar & type your name to display on title bar. Close registry editor and restart your computer.

Reduce the timing that XP waits to close any program before it goes to shutdown

Start Registry editor and goto the following registry key
Hkey_Current_User \ Control Panel \ Desktop
Select (Waittokillapptimeout),  Right click on it and chose the modify
Change its value to (1000) and press Ok
After that right click on (HungAppTimeout) and choose the modify option, change its value to (1000) and press Ok
After that find the following key Hkey_Users \ Default \ Control Panel \ Desktop
Go to (WaitToKillAppTimeout) right click on it and choose modify and change its value to 1000 and press OK
After that find the following key Hkey_Local_Machine \ System \ Currentcontrolset \ Control
Choose the option (Waittokillservicetimeout) right click on it and select modify and change its value to 1000 also and press OK

Shared document
Start registry editor and find the following key (Hkey_Local_Machine \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Currentversion \ Explorer \ My Computer \ Namespace \ Delegatefolders) if you see the key named (59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee) just delete it, the document shared document will be automatically removed.

Start registry editor and find the following key (hkey_current_user \ software \ Microsoft \ windows \ currentversion \ policies \ explorer) Create dword and name it as (norecentdocshistory) See the value “Reg_dword” in that value 0 is use to disable it and 1 is use to enable the Recent documents list.

Shut down local and Remot computer

Shutcmd\l is use to off your pc
shutcmd \\ PC name /y is use to shutdown the remote computer (specify the ip address)

To delete the shared documents in my computer start registry, find the following key

To delete the shared documents delete the following sub-key (59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee) there is no need to restart your PC.
Sharing tab in folder properties (windows 2000)
Go to Folder option in my computer then go to Tools and Folder Option (in the advance setting uncheck the Use Simple File Sharing) now share your folders in Win 2000.

Change the company name
Start Registry and go to the following key

double click on RegisteredOrganization, under the value data change it what you want, and then double click on Registeredowner and under the Value data change it as you want.

Hide Recycle bin

To hide the recycle bin from desktop
Run regedit
Find the following key

Change the values like this.

Find the following key

Select the following value and right click on it and then modify it.
Decrease the numbers (around to 100), this is the delay time of opening of menu.

Speed up your interent

If you want to increase the speed of your internet   
In windows registry there is a setting called maximum transfer unit (in which the size of the packets already mentioned) and these packets transfer data between your system and the target PC. In the registry editor search the following key
Hkey_Local_Machine  \  System  \  Currentcontrolset  \  Services  \  Class  \  Nettrans
In Nettrans folder right click on 000x, select new and then string value, click on MaxMTU and change the value to 1002.

Decrease the shutdown timing

If you want to decrease the timing of system shutdown
Run Regeidt and go to the following keys.

then select Waittokillapptimeout
modify the value to 1000
Then press ok after that select hungapptimeout
then right click on right panel & select modify and change the value to 1000 and click OK
In registry editor find the following key

After that select Waittokillapptimeout right click on right panel and select Modify
And change the value to 1000 after that click on OK
Search the following key in registry Hkey_Local_Machine \ System \ Currentcontrolset \ Control, after that select waittokillservicetimeout, right click and select modify and change the value to 1000 and click OK

Security & Privacy hide drives

Hide Drives for Security and Privacy
If you want to disable or hide drives on your local Pc or on Network.
Open registry editor and go to the following keys
Start Run then type regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Current  Version \ Policies \ Explorer
In right panel create new item (Dword) with the name (NoDrives) remember its case sensitve. After creating it modify its value to (3FFFFFF) Hexadecimal
Restart your computer (all the drives will be gone) if you want to show it again, go to registry editor and delete this Dword and restart your computer.

Task manager

Disabling task manager in OSIf you want to disable your task manager for your security purposes open Registry editor
Go To start - Run  - type Regedit then go to the following key in registry
Hkey_Current_User / Software / Microsoft / Windows / Curre Ntversion / Policies / System
Double click on DisableTaskMgr  and change the value to 1.
If it infected already by some virus you can unable it with changing the value to 0.

Task Bar properties

If you want to restrict the taskbar properties
First run regedit
Then go to the following key Hkey_Current_User / Software / Microsoft / Windows / Curre Ntversion / Policies / Explorer
On right side right click and then click on NEW then DWORD value and name it as “NoSetTaskbar” set the value to 1.

Folder options restriction

Then go to Hkey_Current_User / Software / Microsoft / Windows / Curre Ntversion / Policies / Explorer
At right panel of the window double click on
NoFolderOptions and change the value to 1 know as Dword value.
Now close your registry editor and see folder options.
In case due to virus your folder option is already disabled then try in reverse and change the value to 0.

Yahoo Multi Idz login

Login in yahoo with multiple idsIf you have multiple yahoo ids and want to login both of idz at the same time, you can do some changes in registry, and with any software or third party software you will able to login multiple idz at the same time.
Run regedit and go to KHEY_CURRENT_USER then go to Software then yahoo and then pager and then test. In the right page choose new Dword value and rename it as Plural. Double click on it and assign 1 (a decimal value) close the registry and login with multi idz.

8.3 dos file names disabling

Off the dos 8.3 file name Go to command prompt and type fsutil behavior set disabled8dot3, restart computer (this will disable files that use the dos file name system). This will increase the performance of explorer.

Increase the start up process

Msconfig  If you want to increase the speed of computer start up, go to run and type msconfig, it will show a window with different option and from there you can select programs that you want to start during computer start up process.

Turn off auto play

Using group policy editor (configure Auto Play)
Go to run and type gpedit.msc
Go to the following area
Computer Configuration – Administrative templates-windows components – autoplay policies (turn off autoplay –Disabled

Activate Admin account

Activate Win 7 Admin Account
Logon in win 7 (with your usual account
Go to dos prompt (Run as administrator)
Net help user (type that command)
Type the following command
Net User Administrator p$ssssw0rD (then)
Net User Administrator /active:yes
Logoff and login again
Details of administrator account in Win 7 (Hidden Account)
Net user administrator /active:yes.

Stop command from dos prompt

If you want to end any task from dos prompt go to dos and type
Tasklist that will show you the tasks that are currently running
taskkill/pid and the task number that will end the task.
If you want to use ClearType text right click on desktop and go to properties and click on appearance and select the option ClearType, very useful for Laptops
You may change it through registry too, go to the following key and change the value like this

Select (Run As) command and type the user name and its password. It is very useful command if you have administrative rights.
If you want that Xp will automatically delete the temporary files, this option is available in explorer 6 or above, first go to Tools then go to internet options and go to Advance then go to security area and check the box ask (Empty Temporary internet files)

Bypass auto run

If you want to bypass the auto run feature when you insert the CD
Hold down the shift key and insert the cd key this will bypass the auto run feature.
Alt + F4 is use to close the window (currently open)

Hide Folder

Hide your folder in xp without using any software
Go to dos prompt and go move where your target folder is located, and there type
Attrib +s +h (folder name) without any brackets
If you want to display the folder again
Attrib –s –h (folder name)
This will display the folder again

Lock your PC

If you want to lock your PC using desktop shortcut
Right click on desktop to create a shortcut and in location select the following file (rundll32 user32.dll) from windows folder and give it any name just like Lock PC, this will create a shortcut on desktop.

Unistall XP from dos

How to uninstall XP from Dos prompt
Start computer in command prompt (safe mode) and type
Cd \    enter-
then go to the following folder
cd\windows\system32
in this folder type the following command and press enter
osuninst.exe
follow the instruction on screen and it will carry you on previous operating system
This is useful if you create an image of previous operating system (during windows upgrade) only the users logon as administrator or admin have admin rights can do this
Delete undeletable files in XP
Go to Command prompt and then without closing it start task manager and in task manager go to processes and click on Explorer.exe file and then click End process, after that go to command prompt window  and go to the directory from where you want to delete files, after deleting files go back to task manager and click on new task and type Explorer.exe to start the Graphical User interface Shell, It is done.

Hidden user account
To create hidden user account start registry editor and find the following registry key
Hkey_Local_Machine \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windowsnt \ Cu Rrentversion \ Winlogon \ Specialaccounts \ Userlist Modify / (create dword value data type reg _
dword named (type Name of Account to be Hidden) in the value data 0 is used for hidden account and 1 is used to enabled, close registry and restart your computer. Although the account the hidden but it will be visible in documents & settings and I will also shown in groups and local user.

NTFS Partition convertion

Convert partition from Fat32 to NTFS
If you want to convert the file system of your partition from Fat32 to NTFS
At command prompt type
Convert C: /fs:ntfs and press enter
Your partition would be convert from Fat32 to NTFS
(Sometime the systems prompt you to convert it after restarting the computer)
This conversion is safe and your data will not be lost, also that this only one time conversion and you cannot covert NTFS to Fat32, you will see the conversion when you close the command prompt, because in previously operating systems cannot support NTFS partitions.

BIOS and Dialup Passwords

Remove your BIOS password
If you want to wash out the BIOS password of your PC without opening the casing of your PC, at the time of booting normally with the help of Del key you enter into BIOS setting, but what if one can lock it with password. With the help of Dos utility Debug located in windows folder (Command). Remember that if you don’t have enough knowledge about computer then we recommend that don’t play with Debug utility.
Note (if you apply this command that will be on your own risk)
First of all restart your computer in Do mode and on Dos prompt type debug and enter
After seeing a Hyphen ( - ) enter that command

then press enter and restart your computer, when you enter into BIOS you will see the default setting of your BIOS and you must set it to your own requirements as previously.


Dial Up Password
If you want that your dialup password save automatically in your dialup window, goto Run command and start registry editor, and find the following registry key. Hkey_Local_Machine \ System \ Currentcontrolset \ Services \ Rasman \ Parameters
Modify / create dword (data type reg_dword) named the (disablesavepass)
in this key 0 is use to disable and 1 is use to enable, If you select 0 this will save your dialup password, and if you choose 1 then this option is use to prevent the registry to save password, exit from registry and restart your computer.

Hide Recycle Bin

If you want to hide recycle bin from desktop
gpedit.msc then open configuration and go to desktop and remove recycle bin then double click and change it to disable press ok.
Go to start – run and type gpudate.exe & enter. Your recycle bin is gone and if you want to display it again, revert all the commands (remember that you must run gpupdates.exe command again.
